Job summary

National Safety Apparel in Cleveland seeks a Facilities Maintenance Operator to keep plants safe, clean and efficient. You will inspect, maintain, and coordinate with subcontractors, reporting to the Head of Maintenance to ensure operations run smoothly.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience, and the ability to lift 40 lbs. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401K, life insurance, PTO and holiday pay.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience with facility or similar equipment.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain factory cleanliness and manage waste throughout shifts.
  • Coordinate with building subcontractors and document activity for equipment.HVAC and material handling equipment monitoring.
  • Assist with safety policies and operate equipment safely; shut down unsafe machinery.
  • Support other project tasks as directed by the Head of Maintenance.

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Employment Type: Full time

Pay Rate: $18-20/hr

Position Overview: Responsible for Cleveland, NSA owned, facilities by ensuring that they are safe, well kept, and operating effectively and efficiently. These goals can be by achieved by working on the projects themselves, coordinating with internal team members, or through subcontractor(s).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for trash and waste removal in the factories (including services, recycle, and daily emptying of factory waste between 1 st and 2 nd shift)
  • Responsible for dealing with building subcontractors
  • Responsible for recording the activity per Machine asset of vital building equipment such as: HVAC, Air Compressors, and Material Handling equipment. The recording of this activity is regardless of self work of subcontracted work.
  • General factory cleanliness: organizing and disposing of pallets, totes, boxes
  • Responsible for doing “extra” walkway shoveling and salting during winter months to ensure safety.
  • Assisting on other project tasks as assigned by VP of Manufacturing or assisting Maintenance Technicians.
  • Comply with established safety policies and be able to safely use the provided equipment in a safe manner; including, shutting down machinery suspected of being unsafe.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  • Machine and equipment reorganization
  • Other duties as assigned

Training: Provided on the job when necessary

Qualifications:

Education & Certifications: High School diploma or GED preferred

Experience: 2 years working with facility or similar type equipment, or in a similar role.

Key Competencies: Interaction with co-workers and subcontractors in a professional manner. Need to be able to express directions that are clear and concise.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for the duration of the day with frequent walking and lifting. Should be able to lift 40 lbs on their own.

Working Conditions: Plant environment with constant background noise.
