Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Technical College or Trade Program preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with life safety, fire protection, or suppression systems in an industrial environment is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and the ability to learn specialized life-safety software platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PMs, test, and maintain fire protection, fire alarm, and Toxic Gas Monitoring (TGM) systems according to engineering specifications and site requirements.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on fire risers, PIVs, tampers/flow switches, hydrants, standpipes, kitchen hoods/ fire suppression systems, foam systems, extinguishers, and other suppression components.
  • Inspect, test, and service toxic gas, flammable gas, multi‑gas, oxygen, and other specialized life‑safety sensors and detection system
  • Submit documented inspection reports for installed fire suppression and HGM systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain all maintenance logs, device inventories, inspection records, and compliance documentation in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all electrical safety requirements are followed during system maintenance, including proper LOTO and safe work practices.
  • Apply knowledge of applicable fire codes, building codes, NFPA standards, and site‑specific requirements to all life‑safety tasks.
  • Dismantle and service portable fire extinguishers, inspecting components such as tubing, horns, gaskets, and cutter discs; repair or replace components as required.
  • Interface with both fire alarm systems and facility control systems such as PLCs and SCADA platforms to ensure proper system communication and operation.
  • Troubleshoot life safety system faults, alarms, device failures, communication issues, and system interlocks.
  • Support additional duties and special projects as required by business needs.
  • Assist with startup, commissioning, and functional testing of new instrumentation and control systems.
  • Verify device scaling, signal integrity, loop direction, control logic, and alarm configuration.
  • Coordinate with engineering, contractors, and vendors during commissioning and system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate device records, calibration logs, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and control configurations using CMMS tools.
  • Provide technical support during shutdowns, system transitions, process troubleshooting, and equipment upgrades.

Position Summary

Amkor Technology Arizona is seeking an experienced Facilities Life Safety Systems Technician, responsible for inspecting, repairing, testing, and maintaining all facility life safety equipment and systems in accordance with building codes, local fire codes, and industry standards. This role supports a wide range of fire protection, fire alarm, toxic/flammable gas monitoring, and emergency response systems critical to maintaining a safe and code‑compliant facility environment. The technician supports construction, commissioning, and operations phases to ensure all controls systems meet safety codes, performance standards, and operational needs.

Job Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fire protection certifications or licenses (NICET, state fire licenses, etc.) are preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, schematics, riser diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Skilled with electrical and handheld diagnostic equipment, standard hand tools, power tools, and specialized life‑safety and TGM hardware.
  • Certification in instrumentation or controls
  • Experience with BMS, SCADA, or EPMS systems.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office and the ability to learn and use engineering drawing databases and CMMS platforms.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and awkward positions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in mechanical spaces, rooftops, and equipment rooms.
  • Exposure to sharp, hot, and cold equipment.
  • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at elevation, and in confined spaces with PPE.
Location

Peoria, AZ. This position is onsite. During the construction phase and initial onboarding period, employees will work a standard Monday–Friday schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As the facility transitions into manufacturing operations, the role will move to a 12-hour compressed workweek schedule. Shift assignments may include day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays, and will be determined based on business and operational needs.
