Job summary

Amkor Technology Arizona is seeking an experienced facilities Controls System Engineer to design, install, commission, and operate facility control systems across HVAC, UPW, WWT, gas/chemical, and life safety. You will collaborate with vendors, review drawings, support commissioning, and drive reliability improvements.

This role requires hands-on PLC/SCADA experience and strong problem-solving abilities at a semiconductor facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in facilities control systems engineering (design and operations).
• Strong understanding of PLCs, SCADA, PID controllers, and variable frequency drives.
• Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings and engineering specifications.
• Familiarity with HMI interfaces and industrial communication protocols.
• Proficiency in MS Office and engineering tools.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in semiconductor facility design, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Professional Engineering License (PE) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, installation, commissioning, and operation of facility control systems for HVAC, UPW, WWT, gas and chemical systems, and life safety.

Position Summary:

Amkor Technology Arizona is seeking an experienced facilities Controls System Engineer, responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of facility control systems for Amkor’s OSAT factory. This includes PLC,and SCADA platforms supporting HVAC, ultrapure water, wastewater treatment, gas and chemical systems, and life safety systems. The role ensures reliable, efficient, and safe operation of automated control systems throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will evolve throughout the project lifecycle, ranging from design and commissioning to full-scale operations, requiring adaptability and a proactive approach to each phase.

• Collaborate with instrumentation and controls design vendors to ensure system requirements are met.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in various weather conditions and awkward positions.
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs. and adjust heavy objects.
• Exposure to sharp, hot, and cold equipment.
• Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
• Ability to climb ladders, work at elevation, and in confined spaces with PPE.

Location:

This position will be based at the Peoria, AZ site, working from temporary offices during the construction phase and transitioning to the facility upon the start of factory operations.
