Job summary

Marlborough Health & Rehabilitation Center seeks a Director of Plant Operations to oversee the facility's mechanical, structural, and operational aspects while ensuring safety, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance. You will lead a maintenance team, manage budgets, and drive emergency preparedness initiatives to provide a safe, welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

The role requires a track record of leadership, strong communication, and the ability to respond to emergencies

Qualifications

• Trade school graduate or licensed journeyman mechanic preferred.
• 5+ years of plant engineering or skilled trades experience.
• 3+ years of institutional housekeeping or laundry service management (if applicable).
• A strong track record of safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical maintenance practices.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
• Clear, confident communication skills and proficiency in English (written and verbal).
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
• Availability to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.
• Expertise in cost estimation, blueprint reading, and writing technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical, structural, and operational aspects of the facility, inside and out.
• Lead the creation, upkeep, and execution of our Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Recruit, coach, and inspire a skilled maintenance team; may also oversee housekeeping and/or laundry operations.
• Set and manage schedules for staff, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely, high-quality work.
• Inspect buildings and grounds regularly to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance.
• Maintain critical systems, including plumbing, boilers, burners, heating, and hot water.
• Plan and oversee electrical system upgrades and equipment installations.
• Ensure full compliance with all safety, sanitary, health, and fire codes, including NFPA 101 for healthcare facilities.
• Manage departmental budgets, from supply ordering to invoice approvals.
