Job summary

Two Rivers Supervisory Union’s Cavendish Town Elementary School in Proctorsville, Vermont, seeks a hands-on Head of Maintenance & Custodial Services to lead daily upkeep, repairs, and custodial operations. The role requires independent work, problem solving, and the ability to manage projects and contractors.

You will supervise 1-2 full-time staff and temporary workers, coordinate electrical, plumbing, heating systems, and ensure a safe, clean school environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 3-5 years of relevant technical training and/or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A valid plumbing or electrical license is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of electrical and/or plumbing/heating systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• General knowledge and skills related to mechanical systems, building construction, and building repair.
• Experience with project planning and management, including estimating labor, materials, costs, and timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to train, direct, and oversee the work of others.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to effectively prioritize multiple maintenance needs and respond appropriately to urgent facility issues.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve conflicts professionally.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate electrical system work for the CTES.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
• Plan and manage maintenance projects and coordinate with contractors.
• Train and supervise custodial and maintenance staff.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with codes and safety standards.
