Job summary

Grand Island Public Schools is seeking a Head Custodian for West Lawn Elementary School to oversee daily custodial operations, ensuring a sanitary and safe environment for students and staff while managing custodians to complete tasks safely and on time.

Under the Director of Facilities and Principal, you will coordinate schedules, inspect facilities, maintain HVAC preventative maintenance, respond to safety concerns, and work with vendors to keep the building in good condition.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous building management/maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned facilities to maintain a sanitary, safe environment.
• Delivers items and materials to ensure adequate supplies.
• Informs staff and supervisor about activities and safety and/or proper maintenance.
• Inspects facilities to ensure safe operations and identify repairs.
• Leads and assists in organizing work schedules and performance inspections of custodial staff.
• Maintains substitute lists and schedules substitutes as needed.
• Maintains preventive maintenance for HVAC equipment, including filters and belts.
• Oversees custodial maintenance work and inventory of supplies.
• Collaborates with principals, service companies, and contractors to improve the work environment.
