Job summary

Nassau BOCES is seeking a Head Custodian I to oversee daily custodial operations across multiple locations. You will supervise custodians, maintain a clean and safe facility, manage schedules, and coordinate with school leadership on building needs and safety concerns.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, plus experience in maintenance planning and records management. Occasional travel between sites is expected.

Qualifications

• High School or Vocational Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in building management/maintenance preferred.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license as required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans facilities to maintain a sanitary, safe environment.
• Delivers items to ensure supplies to relevant parties.
• Informs staff and supervisors about safety and maintenance activities.
• Inspects facilities to ensure safe operations and cleanliness.
• Leads custodial staff and organizes work schedules and evaluations.
• Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC equipment.
