Job summary

Koniag Professional Services is seeking a Lead Custodian to supervise custodial staff, coordinate tasks, and train new hires. This position requires strong cleaning expertise, reliability, and clear communication to maintain safe, clean facilities.

As a union role reporting to the CE, the Lead Custodian will manage cleaning operations, inventory, and coordination with other departments, while ensuring compliance with cleaning protocols and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform heavy cleaning duties.
• Experience managing custodial projects.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Dependable, hardworking, and able to work independently.
• Custodial, carpet, and floor care experience.
• Advanced Custodial Technical Certification (CMI) required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and assign tasks to custodial staff; provide training and onboarding.
• Oversee routine and specialized cleaning; develop schedules and procedures; ensure quality standards.
• Manage cleaning supplies/equipment inventory.
• Serve as liaison between staff and management; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Handle complex cleaning tasks and assist with events setup/cleanup.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards; lead cleaning load balance for compliant results.
