Job summary

Charles Wright Academy seeks a Facilities Lead to oversee daily campus operations, lead maintenance projects, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee day-to-day campus facilities operations to keep buildings, grounds, and systems safe and functional.
  • Develop and implement planned maintenance programs for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Operations team on facilities projects from planning through completion.
  • Apply carpentry, construction, electrical and general trades to support maintenance and projects.
  • Coordinate and support event setups ensuring spaces meet school needs on schedule.
  • Supervise facilities staff including scheduling, prioritization, and teamwork.
  • Assist in obtaining bids from contractors and manage work to meet quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for facilities systems, maintenance schedules, and projects.
  • Monitor campus infrastructure and recommend safety, efficiency, and sustainability improvements.

Position Description

The Operations Team at Charles Wright Academy supports the daily functions, long-term planning, and overall experience of the school’s campus and physical environment. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Technology, the Facilities Lead plays a key role in ensuring that the campus is safe, functional, and well-maintained, while collaborating on capital improvements and maintenance projects. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with strong project management and team leadership skills to support both immediate operational needs and long-term facilities strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and oversee the day-to-day operations of campus facilities, ensuring buildings, grounds, and systems are safe, functional, and well cared for.
  • Develop and implement planned maintenance programs for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Operations team to work on facilities-related projects, renovations, and repairs from planning through completion.
  • Apply skills in construction, carpentry, and/or general trades to support maintenance, repairs, and project work as needed.
  • Coordinate and support event setups, ensuring spaces are prepared according to school needs in a timely and organized manner.
  • Supervise and collaborate with facilities staff, supporting scheduling, task prioritization, and team effectiveness.
  • Work with the Director to obtain bids from contractors, manage work, and ensure quality and compliance with project expectations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to facilities systems, maintenance schedules, and project work.
  • Monitor campus infrastructure and recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, policies, and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Have demonstrated experience in facilities management, construction, or a related field.
  • Possess strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple projects effectively.
  • Understand building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and maintenance best practices.
  • Have hands-on experience with carpentry, construction, electrical, and/or general building maintenance.
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills when working with internal teams and external vendors.

Physical Requirements
  • Be able to work in various positions, including standing, walking the campus, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Salary & Benefits

This position has an hourly range between $31.25 and $36.06, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits available are subject to plan and candidate eligibility.

Insurance: Medical, Vision, Dental; Basic Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and Long Term Disability; Health Care FSA; and Dependent Care FSA may be available to employees, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan.

Retirement Plan: CWA offers an employer and employee contributed 403(b) plan, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan.

Paid Sick Leave: Employees receive 96 hours of paid sick/wellness leave per year.

Personal Leave: Employees will receive 13 days of personal leave per year.

Paid Holidays: CWA offers 15 paid holidays per year.
