Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Dispatcher in our Specialized Field Services division. You will support on-site, 24/7 control and monitoring of electric, water and other utility systems within a large industrial complex. The role requires weekend night shifts (Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00pm to 7:00am).

Responsibilities include ensuring safe operation, coordinating equipment switching, and communicating with field staff. A background in utilities and strong Excel/Word skills are preferred.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Specialized Field Services department as a Dispatcher. As a Dispatcher you will work within a large industrial complex thatprovides on-site, 24hr. control, assessment and monitoring of the utilities (electric, water, steam, etc.).

Work Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays from 7:00pm to 7:00am.

Responsibilities

• Managing and maintaining a safe and reliable operation of the facilities’ electric generation, transmission and distribution system, water distribution system and gas system
• Overseeing the continuance of critical utilities by maintaining economical, reliable and safe operating conditions
• Controlling emergency responses
• Interfacing with customers and field personnel
• Surveying facilities by inspecting retention pounds, pumps houses and substations
• Operating analog, digital and computer terminal equipment to assure proper and reliable exchange schedules when required
• Coordinating necessary station and distribution switching to protect repair personnel
• Isolating and restores to operation faulted circuits and equipment
• Planning and scheduling switching procedures to place new lines and equipment in service, removes lines and equipment out of service
• Maintaining records of orders issued to and reports received from field personnel
• Complying with general and specific instructions, verification, acknowledgment of standards and regulations
• Starting, stopping and transferring control of various units of equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience within industrial or utility operations
• Experience and/or knowledge in electromechanical equipment
• Knowledge of meter reading and electrical equipment
• Electrical knowledge in operating electrical disconnects and breakers, as well as monitoring voltage levels and performing substation inspections
• Detail oriented
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
• Experience in Microsoft Suite to include Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Safety - focused in recognition of potential dangers and hazards
• While performing duties of this job, employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects and tools at least 75% of the work shift.
• Prefer an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
