Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Dispatcher for our Specialized Field Services in a large industrial complex. You’ll monitor and control electric, water, steam, and other utility systems, with weekend nights (Sat-Sun 7pm-7am) as part of a rotation.

You will coordinate switching, monitor equipment, and communicate with customers and field teams to ensure reliable operations. Ideal candidates have experience in industrial/utility operations, knowledge of electrical equipment, and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or utility operations.
• Knowledge of electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical meters and understand electrical equipment.
• Detail oriented with safety focus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain safe, reliable operation of electric, water, steam, and gas systems.
• Oversee continuity of critical utilities with economical, safe operations.
• Coordinate emergency responses as needed.
• Interface with customers and field personnel.
• Inspect facilities and substations to survey condition.
• Operate equipment/control systems to manage exchange schedules.
• Coordinate switching to protect repair personnel.
• Isolate faults and restore systems to operation.
• Plan switching procedures and manage line/equipment status.
• Maintain records of orders and field reports.
• Comply with standards and regulations.
• Start/stop/transfer control of equipment.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Specialized Field Services department as a Dispatcher. As a Dispatcher you will work within a large industrial complex thatprovides on-site, 24hr. control, assessment and monitoring of the utilities (electric, water, steam, etc.).

Work Schedule: Saturdays & Sundays from 7:00pm to 7:00am.

Responsibilities

• Managing and maintaining a safe and reliable operation of the facilities’ electric generation, transmission and distribution system, water distribution system and gas system
• Overseeing the continuance of critical utilities by maintaining economical, reliable and safe operating conditions
• Controlling emergency responses
• Interfacing with customers and field personnel
• Surveying facilities by inspecting retention pounds, pumps houses and substations
• Operating analog, digital and computer terminal equipment to assure proper and reliable exchange schedules when required
• Coordinating necessary station and distribution switching to protect repair personnel
• Isolating and restores to operation faulted circuits and equipment
• Planning and scheduling switching procedures to place new lines and equipment in service, removes lines and equipment out of service
• Maintaining records of orders issued to and reports received from field personnel
• Complying with general and specific instructions, verification, acknowledgment of standards and regulations
• Starting, stopping and transferring control of various units of equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience within industrial or utility operations
• Experience and/or knowledge in electromechanical equipment
• Knowledge of meter reading and electrical equipment
• Electrical knowledge in operating electrical disconnects and breakers, as well as monitoring voltage levels and performing substation inspections
• Detail oriented
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written
• Experience in Microsoft Suite to include Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Safety - focused in recognition of potential dangers and hazards
• While performing duties of this job,employeewill be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects and toolsat least75% of thework shift.
• Prefer an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
