Job summary

The Regents of the University of California on behalf of their Los Angeles Campus seeks a Facilities Mechanic to perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance, alterations and repair of campus HVAC equipment and systems.

Under supervision you will assist journey-level staff, operate and maintain HVAC tools, record work logs, ensure safety practices, and support installation and preventive maintenance of steam, chilled water, and related infrastructure. Schedule: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM.

Qualifications

HVAC trade knowledge and practices required.
Ability to assist engineers or SOE's on tasks.
Capable of minor repairs/installations and preventive maintenance.
Familiar with HVAC hand tools and power equipment.
Able to perform basic math calculations.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction.
Capable of working well in a team.
Adheres to all safety practices and procedures.
Keeps accurate records of work and completed jobs.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance, alterations and repair of campus HVAC equipment.
Assist journeypersons with installation and preventive maintenance of HVAC systems.
Operate tools and equipment used in the HVAC trade and maintain safety standards.
Maintain logs of completed tasks and ensure accuracy.
Coordinate with campus operations to minimize downtime and disruption.
