You will operate tools, maintain logs, and observe strong safety practices while contributing to reliable campus infrastructure. This role is on-site in Los Angeles with standard work hours.

Qualifications

  • Preferred 2000 hours of trade-related work experience.
  • General HVAC trade knowledge and procedures required.
  • Ability to assist Service Engineers or SOEs with routine tasks.
  • Capable of minor repairs/ installations and preventive maintenance.
  • Familiarity with HVAC hand tools and power equipment.
  • Basic math calculation ability required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Commitment to safety practices and accurate record keeping.
  • CA noncommercial Class C license required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance on campus equipment.
  • Assist journeyperson with installation and preventive maintenance of HVAC systems.
  • Repair steam lines and vacuum pumps as needed.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC tools and equipment and transport materials.
  • Keep logs of completed tasks and uphold safety standards.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of a journey level crafts worker perform routine and semi-skilled maintenance, alterations and repair of campus equipment and/or assist journeyperson with installation and preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment, compressors and auxiliary equipment used in the manufacture and distribution of steam, chilled water, compressed air and distilled water. Assist in the repair of steam lines and vacuum pumps. Operate tools and equipment related to the HVAC trade. Operate and maintain a variety of power and hand tools, transport materials, clean job sites, and observe good safety practices. Maintain logs of completed task.

Salary & Compensation

Qualifications
  • Trade Appropriate Work Hours 2000 trade-appropriate documented work experience hours (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of general HVAC trade practices and procedures. (Required)
  • Ability to perform routine and semi-skilled tasks assisting Service Engineers or SOE's. (Required)
  • Ability to make minor repairs/installations, or perform preventive maintenance on a variety of University equipment/systems. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of various hand tools, power equipment and supplies of the HVAC trade. (Required)
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (Required)
  • Skill in working independently or as part of a work crew follow through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required)
  • Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team. (Required)
  • Ability to observe all safety practices. (Required)
  • Ability to keep accurate records of work and completed jobs. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
  • Other Type of Degree Some Schooling Trade related 6-18 CEU's (Preferred)
  • Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
