Job summary

Shenendehowa Central School District is seeking a Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Worker to support year‑round grounds and building upkeep. The role includes mowing, planting, snow/ice removal, and basic repairs to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

The successful candidate will operate heavy equipment, collaborate with maintenance staff, and participate in safety trainings. A NY driver’s license is required; CDL preferred for heavy plow tasks.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience as a journeyman in a skilled trade or several years in building maintenance.
• Valid NY driver's license (CDL preferred for heavy plow operation).

Responsibilities

• Perform year-round grounds maintenance including mowing, planting, and landscape upkeep for athletic fields and facilities.
• Remove snow and ice using trucks, tractors with plows, and equipment; apply sand/salt for safety.
• Conduct plumbing, electrical, painting, and other basic building maintenance repairs.
• Assist with maintenance of equipment; inspect facilities to identify repair needs.
• Install shelving, storage cabinets, and mechanical equipment; manage supplies and records.
• Operate heating and other mechanical systems; collaborate with district staff as needed.
• Participate in trainings for safe operation of equipment and systems.
