Job summary

Facilities Operations Assistant 1 positions are located at DMNA armories, air bases, buildings and training sites across New York. They perform operation and preventive maintenance, ensuring codes and standards are met; coordinate with the OIC/C or Air Base Civil Engineer to sustain federal missions and state response readiness.

Under supervision, duties include painting prep and application, custodial tasks and general maintenance; occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow safety standards and procedures.
• Basic computer skills including MS Word/Excel.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Reliable and trustworthy with responsibilities.
• Must read and write in English.
• Ability to learn and use multiple computer systems as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance and custodial tasks.
• Paint surfaces, prep, apply coats of paint and finishes.
• Assist with carpentry, mechanical, electrical or painting tasks as needed.
• Operate light vehicles and power-driven equipment when required.
• Maintain health and safety standards across facilities.
