Job summary

The Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority (SMHA) is seeking to fill the full-time position of Buildings and Grounds Worker. Employees perform cleaning, minor repairs and grounds keeping tasks to maintain rental properties and common areas.

Duties include cleaning apartments, performing minor repairs, operating snow and lawn equipment, and ensuring safety and compliance with SMHA policies. A valid NYS driver’s license and residency in Schenectady or contiguous county are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related experience or completion of a job training program.
• Willingness to perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks.

Responsibilities

• Clean vacant apartments and common areas; remove trash and bulk items.
• Perform minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs as directed.
• Operate snow and lawn equipment to maintain grounds and safety.
• Maintain neat appearance of grounds and ensure timely completion of duties.
• Adhere to safety policies and pre-employment drug screening.
