Position Summary


The F&G Shop & Fleet Coordinator is essential to the facilities and grounds department (F&G) by smoothly coordinating daily operations and projects. They are responsible for the department's office and shop environments, support F&G administrative processes, and manage the school's fleet.Organization, adaptability, analysis, attention to detail, collaboration, dependability, safety awareness, and organizational sensitivity are characteristics central to this position. They report to and work closely with the director of F&G and collaborate with the department's managers and staff. This is an administrative and technical position. This is a full-time, year-round, non-exempt, benefits-eligible position.



Primary Responsibilities



  • Work closely with the facilities & grounds director and teammates to ensure smooth and safe running, maintenance, and improvement of the school's infrastructure.

  • Manage and maintain a productive office and shop environment that puts other staff members in a position to succeed.Maintain shop equipment in clean, good working condition with proper calibrations and setup. Keep trash and recycling areas clean and in good order. Maintain supply stocks.

  • Establish, maintain, and communicate well-documented, clear, and safe procedures related to F&G's office, shop, fleet, and administrative systems.

  • Provides direct and indirect support to the director of facilities and grounds with capital and operational budget preparation, tracking and reconciliation.

  • Contact and coordinate with external service providers to schedule repair work and ensure timely completion.

  • Complete or schedule general maintenance and repairs to the Penland fleet (including vans, golf carts, mules, trucks) and maintenance equipment (tractor, forklift, skid steer, etc.).

  • Complete purchasing and invoicing for office, shop, and fleet operations as required.


Qualifications



  • A general understanding of the field of craft.

  • Two years experience with fleet, facilities, or a campus-type environment. Professional experience in a nonprofit or school environment is but not required.

  • General knowledge and experience with facility and grounds maintenance .

  • Demonstrated skills related to organizational processes and procedures. Knowledge of equipment use and supply inventory required.

  • Prior experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair required.

  • Efficient time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written communications.

  • Practical experience using Microsoft (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Suite products. Must have working knowledge of spreadsheet management software.

  • Certifications in first aid, CPR and hazardous waste will be required upon hire.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Must have a thick skin, a good sense of humor, and a hands-on philosophy.


Physical Demands


While performing this job's duties, the employee must regularly sit and work at a computer. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, to handle and touch objects, tools, or controls, in addition to being able to talk fluently and hear. The employee is frequently required to perform physical work outdoors. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and handle hazardous materials. The employee must occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds or more. Close vision for inspection and computer use; as well as standard vision requirements for operating motor vehicles.

Compensation


This is a full-time, year-round, benefits-eligible position. The starting wage for this non-exempt position is negotiable within the range of $17.70 - $20.00, based on the applicant's skills and experience they bring to the position. This is a 40-hour week position, totaling 2080 hours annually. It will occasionally see overtime. Additionally, this position may be eligible for an on-call stipend once trained.
