Job summary

Pitt County Government is seeking a supervisory maintenance professional to lead Buildings and Grounds staff across county facilities. The role involves planning, scheduling, inspecting, and coordinating maintenance and construction tasks to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance.

You will train and supervise personnel, manage work orders, monitor HVAC systems, and liaise with the Director to determine needs and priorities.

Qualifications

High school diploma and 7 years of experience in construction trades or building maintenance with supervisory duties.
Experience with planning, scheduling, and inspecting maintenance work.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise day-to-day activities of Buildings and Grounds staff, establish priorities, delegate assignments, and create schedules.
Manage work orders and data entry to complete tasks.
Monitor HVAC controls across county facilities for efficiency and comfort.
Assist the Director in determining maintenance needs and scheduling work.
Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, policies and standards; address non-routine issues.
Help establish preventive maintenance schedules and respond to maintenance requests.
Ensure staff have necessary parts and supplies; negotiate with vendors for favorable terms.
Supervise and approve requisition and purchase of materials and equipment.
Provide leadership in the absence of the Buildings and Grounds Director.
