Job summary

Town of Smithfield is seeking a Building and Grounds Maintenance worker to support town facilities, parks, buildings, and grounds. Duties include lawn care, turf management, plant installations, mowing, trimming, mulching, watering, fertilizing, and general maintenance of parks and game areas, plus minor carpentry, electrical and plumbing as needed.

You will inspect facilities for safety, respond to requests for service, and follow safety standards to protect staff and residents.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED or equivalent experience.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of landscape maintenance work including turf management, plant installations and maintenance, mowing, trimming, mulching, watering, fertilizing, and other tasks.
• Participates in parks maintenance activities, including lining ball fields and installing game equipment.
• Inspects parks and facilities for safety and maintains records for liability purposes.
• Performs semi-skilled maintenance (carpentry, electrical, plumbing) as needed to follow procedures.
