Job summary

Milwaukee County Facilities Management is hiring a Facilities Grounds Worker II to maintain the appearance, safety, and functionality of county facilities and grounds. The role involves operating CDL vehicles with airbrakes and heavy equipment to support year-round maintenance tasks.

Candidates should have a Wisconsin residency, a valid CDL Class B with air brake endorsement, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

HS Diploma/GED or equivalent.
CDL Class B with air brake endorsement is required.
At least 1 year of groundskeeping, landscaping or facilities maintenance experience.
Basic knowledge of word processing & spreadsheets.
Willing to work any assigned shift and be on call for emergencies.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 150 lbs on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including inspection and troubleshooting.
Work orders and site inspections; report issues promptly.
Maintain grounds including mowing, trimming, snow removal, and vehicle operation with airbrakes.
Operate heavy equipment and CDL vehicles as needed.
Train or guide junior staff and assist on special projects or emergencies.
Ensure safe operation and compliance with DOT regulations.
