Job summary

RTC of Southern Nevada is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform journey-level duties across buildings, grounds, and related facilities equipment. The role requires physical capability to handle heavy materials, operate equipment, and follow safety procedures.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and two years of journey-level experience in trades, plus a valid Class C driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to High School Diploma/GED and two years of journey-level experience in one or more trades.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Employment contingent upon physical examination, a pre-employment drug test, and background/driving history checks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and perform maintenance of building electrical facilities and systems.
  • Monitor heating, ventilation, and cooling systems and perform standard repairs/replacements.
  • Maintain plumbing systems for facilities.
  • Assist with oversight of contracted services and carpentry maintenance tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of building systems.
  • Operate computer hardware/software applications and maintain records of activities.
  • Drive to worksites and transport materials as required.

Job description

**Although there is a salary range for this position, the candidate hired into this position will be hired at the bottom of the salary range.**

This recruitment will be used to establish an open competitive and promotional eligibility list that may be used to fill this vacancy and vacancies occurring in this classification for a minimum period of six (6) months. Performs a wide variety of skilled, journey-level duties in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and related facilities equipment.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience: Equivalent to High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of journey-level experience in one or more of the trades.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License at time of application.

Medical Examination: Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician. A pre-employment drug test is part of the examination.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive education/experience background investigation, a criminal history record, and driving history check.

Responsibilities:

  • Physical ability to perform maintenance, construction and related work, including operating hand and power equipment; stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
  • Accommodations may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodations.
  • Monitors, maintains and performance standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems.
  • Monitors performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for facilities; performs standard repair/replacement of components as appropriate.
  • Monitors and performs maintenance of plumbing systems for facilities.
  • Assist with oversight of contracted services.
  • Performs carpentry maintenance tasks for facilities.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on a variety of building operational systems.
  • Operate computer hardware and associated software applications.
  • May perform general maintenance, custodial and trash removal tasks as required.
  • Drives vehicle to work sites and transports materials and supplies as required.
  • Maintains records of activities performed and materials utilized and replenishes supplies.
  • All other duties assigned.
