Job summary

Able Engineering Services in San Francisco seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to supervise engineering staff and service contractors, ensuring preventive maintenance and adherence to safety standards at the site. The role reports to the Chief Engineer and supports program improvements.

You will manage work orders, training, and inventory while coordinating with management on 5-year planning and emergencies. A state/local license is required with refrigerant recovery certification.

Qualifications

• Progressive operations experience (3–4 years) in facilities/engineering.
• Experience supervising engineering staff and contractors.
• Highest-level stationary engineer and/or HVAC license with universal refrigerant recovery license.

Responsibilities

• Provide management for engineering staff under the Chief Engineer.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality inspections; report findings and suggest improvements.
• Schedule and coordinate staff, parts, and equipment; manage work orders and emergencies.
• Maintain safety and site standards; train staff and foster development.
