Job summary

Emerson is offering an internship in engineering for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree. You will work full-time in-person at a Twin Cities location (Shakopee, Chanhassen, or Eden Prairie, MN) and gain exposure to facility systems, CAD, data analysis, and technical reporting.

The role emphasizes planning, design, and cross-functional collaboration with experienced engineers and facility managers. Ideal candidates are pursuing engineering, have strong communication skills, and can obtain U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s in engineering.
• Zero (0) years of related experience.
• Ability to work full-time (40 hours) per week in-person at a Twin Cities location (Shakopee, Chanhassen, or Eden Prairie, MN).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Contribute through planning, design, and modification of facilities assets to support the business functions within, including office spaces, laboratories, and manufacturing areas.
• Apply engineering principles to solve real-world challenges, gaining exposure to project management, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Learn how engineering problem-solving methodology can be applied to complex problems involving infrastructure, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
• Participate in multiple projects at different stages such as initiation, design, planning, and execution, while working alongside experienced engineers and facility managers.
• Be exposed to critical and complex building systems such as chilled water, heating water, hazardous exhaust, electrical distribution, specialty gases, fire protection, and building automation systems.
• Assist in evaluating system performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing upgrades that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Support compliance efforts by helping ensure facility systems meet regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Gain valuable experience in CAD software, data analysis, and technical reporting to support engineering decisions and communicate project outcomes.
