Job summary

Placements24, in partnership with a leading Oil & Gas operator, seeks a Facilities Engineer for Welkom, Free State. The role targets integrity, reliability, and efficiency of onshore processing facilities, including plants, pipelines, and related infrastructure.

You will design, maintain, and modify facilities, lead capital projects, and ensure compliance with API, ASME, and safety standards while collaborating with safety and environmental teams to sustain high operational performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of facilities engineering experience in Oil & Gas.
• Knowledge of process equipment, piping, and instrumentation.
• Experience with capital project management.
• Familiarity with API and ASME codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, construction, and maintenance of oil and gas facilities.
• Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits for compliance and efficiency.

About the Role

The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and modification of processing plants, pipelines, and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with stringent safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, construction, and maintenance of oil and gas processing facilities and infrastructure.

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities to ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to equipment and process operations.
• Manage engineering projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
• Ensure all facility operations comply with company policies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and reports for facility upgrades and modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in facilities engineering within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Strong understanding of process equipment, piping systems, and instrumentation.
• Proven experience in project management and execution of capital projects.
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., API, ASME), and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Experience with HAZOP studies and risk assessments is desirable.
