Job summary

Providence St. Joseph's Hospital-Chewelah is seeking a Facilities Engineer for Plant Operations to support building systems and utilities. This role offers a per-diem, on-call schedule with shifts covering staffing needs and a focus on reliable, safe operation of critical hospital infrastructure.

The position requires hands-on maintenance of pumps, generators, boilers and HVAC equipment, with attention to preventative care and safety protocols in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
  • HS Diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs mechanical systems across the hospital campus.
  • Operates stationary engines, pumps, compressors, generators and boilers to support utilities.
  • Performs routine checks to ensure safety and reliability of HVAC, water, and power systems.

Facilities Engineer - PSJHC PLANT OPERATIONS at St Josephs Hospital-Chewelah
Schedule: Variable Shift, Per Diem/On Call (works on either 7am-3:30pm or 11am-7:30pm depending on staffing needs)

The Maintenance Engineer Building Operations performs a variety of duties in an around the buildings of the hospital complex including the repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment. Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, generators, and steam boilers to provide for utilities such as light, heat, and power for refrigeration, air conditioning, and other services for the hospital.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
