Job summary

City of Columbia, SC is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to install, service and repair electrical and electronic equipment across city buildings. The role involves testing, troubleshooting and performing related duties with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Some relevant prior experience in skilled maintenance.
Valid South Carolina Class A Driver’s License within 12 months of hire.
Journeyman Electrician certification within 12 months of hire.
On-call, night and weekend availability as needed.
IMSA certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Install, test and maintain electrical, mechanical and electronic equipment for City buildings.
Maintain fire alarm systems, outdoor lighting and building electrical systems.
Troubleshoot, repair or replace electrical and mechanical equipment as needed.
Perform general maintenance for other divisions and departments as required.
Hanging banners and installing signage on City buildings when requested.
Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards; prepare reports.
