Job summary

Tempe School District No.3 Brogan – Facilities Management for Learners in Tempe, Arizona seeks an Electrician to perform skilled work in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical circuits, systems and equipment; collaborate with other trades areas to maintain District facilities.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting fire alarm, intercom, and security systems, installing services for new equipment and maintaining records of time and materials.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
• Five (5) years of experience as a skilled electrician; commercial experience preferred
• Ability to obtain State of Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair electrical equipment and controls including lighting systems, branch circuitry, power distribution and control circuitry
• Install electrical services for new equipment including computer labs, recirculation desks, kitchen equipment, copiers, printers, A/C units, kilns, classroom relocations
• Troubleshoot, maintain and service fire alarm systems for student and staff safety
• Maintain and service intercom systems, kitchen equipment, and security systems
• Inspect and test various electrical systems for proper functioning
• Revamp electrical systems for remodels and renovations
• Support schools with electrical needs for activities such as fund raising events, PTA events, and Kid Zone
• Maintain records on time, labor and materials
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials common to the electrical trade
• Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards and regulations
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions
• Skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of electrical systems and components
• Skill in the care and use of hand tools and equipment necessary to perform various electrical repair tasks
• Skill in both verbal and written communication
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
• Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids
