Role Summary
The Facilities Director oversees the cleanliness, safety, functionality, organization, and overall care of City Church’s East and Downtown campuses. This role leads the Facilities Team, coordinates routine cleaning and maintenance, oversees vendors and contractors, manages work orders and projects, and ensures that church facilities are safe, welcoming, and well maintained.
At City Church, we believe facilities are ministry. By faithfully caring for the buildings and property, the Facilities Team helps create space for pastors and ministry leaders to focus on people.
The Facilities Manager should be a hands-on leader who is dependable, self-motivated, attentive to detail, and able to recognize what needs to be done without always being asked.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a servant leader who is organized, proactive, dependable, and comfortable both leading a team and getting their hands dirty when needed. They notice details, solve problems, communicate clearly, and take ownership of the condition and functionality of the facilities.
They are able to balance people leadership, administrative responsibilities, preventative maintenance, cleaning and upkeep, project management, and day-to-day problem solving.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, support, and develop the Facilities Team across both campuses.
- Assign responsibilities and work orders according to team members’ strengths, schedules, and priorities.
- Conduct regular check-ins with Facilities Team members for personal and professional connection.
- Foster a team culture where members feel appreciated, respected, and valued.
- Ensure the Facilities Team works cohesively across both campuses.
- Assist team members with hands-on work when appropriate or when additional support is needed.
- Help the team understand that facilities work is ministry and that their service directly supports the mission of City Church.
Building Care & Cleanliness
- Ensure both campuses maintain a consistent standard of cleanliness, organization, functionality, and appearance.
- Oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly cleaning and upkeep schedules.
- Monitor common areas, workspaces, restrooms, children’s areas, gathering spaces, offices, and other areas for cleanliness and organization.
- Monitor interior and exterior areas for cleanliness, safety, and general condition.
- Ensure cleaning and facility supplies are adequately stocked, organized, and appropriately managed.
- Establish and maintain systems that promote consistency and efficiency in cleaning and building care.
Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure building facilities adhere to appropriate safety standards and cleaning procedures.
- Conduct or oversee routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and property.
- Identify maintenance needs and address or communicate concerns promptly.
- Oversee and assign work orders to Facilities Team members.
- Complete routine maintenance and light maintenance tasks when appropriate.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with qualified contractors when needed.
- Monitor equipment and building systems to identify potential issues before they become larger problems.
- Support grounds maintenance and ensure exterior areas are properly maintained.
Vendors & Contractors
- Communicate with external contractors, service providers, and vendors.
- Obtain estimates and coordinate scheduling for repairs, maintenance, installations, and projects.
- Ensure contracted work is completed appropriately and according to expectations.
- Maintain appropriate records related to vendors, maintenance, warranties, and facility needs.
Projects & Improvements
- Organize and plan building installations, improvements, refurbishments, and special projects.
- Develop project timelines and coordinate the people and resources needed to complete projects.
- Prepare and manage project budgets in coordination with church leadership.
- Look for cost-effective ways to improve building functionality, cleanliness, efficiency, and appearance.
- Prioritize facility needs based on safety, urgency, ministry impact, and available resources.
Communication & Administration
- Maintain clear communication with church leadership regarding facility needs, concerns, projects, and expenses.
- Communicate maintenance, safety, supply, and facility concerns promptly.
- Maintain work order and maintenance systems.
- Monitor facility-related expenses and supplies.
- Plan ahead for recurring maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and facility needs.
- Ensure facilities are prepared for regular church services, events, and special activities.
