Universal Technical Institute, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Director for the Salt Lake City campus. The role combines leadership with hands-on involvement in building, equipment, and grounds maintenance, including renovations and expansions.

The ideal candidate will have strong facilities knowledge and extensive leadership experience, with HVAC certification preferred. This position focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, cost-effective maintenance, and staff development while delivering

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in building maintenance.
• 1-3 years of managerial experience.
• Strong project management skills.
• Licensed or certified in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general contracting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs and participates in maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds, including renovations and expansions.
• Develops and oversees preventive maintenance schedules and ensures inspections for maintenance needs.
• Manages P&L for the facility department and cost containment.
• Partners with Purchasing to solicit bids and negotiates with contractors for renovations or construction.
• Manages staffing, training, and performance of the maintenance department.

What You'll Do

• Facilities Maintenance: Directs and participate in maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds, including renovations, expansions, and improvements.
• Develops/oversees schedules for preventative maintenance and ensures that facilities are inspected regularly to identify current and potential maintenance needs. Ensures repairs comply with internal policies and external regulations [EPA, OSHA, NATEF, ACCSC etc.].
• Manages P&L for the facility department and makes recommendations for cost containment.
• Partners with Purchasing to solicit bids; selects contractors/subcontractors and negotiates bids for project renovation or construction of facilities. Manages vendor relations.
• Manages staffing, training/certifications, development, and performance of the maintenance department, ensuring that staff is informed of changes that affect maintenance.

What You'll Bring

• Education:High school diploma or GED required
• Experience:5-7 years of experience in building maintenance, 1-3 years of managerial experience
• Skills:Strong project management skills.
• Skills:Licensed or certified in one or more areas is preferred: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general contractor.
• Skills:Intermediate level in functional skills; HVAC, painting, electrical, plumbing, welding, safe use of power, and hand tools.
