Job summary

SSOE seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer in Phoenix to apply standard engineering methods on HVAC and piping projects, with supervision for complex features. You will work on small projects or parts of larger ones, using Revit and AutoCAD and coordinating with supervisors.

Ideal candidates have an ABET‑accredited engineering degree and 3+ years of related experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, and MS Office. This is an on-site role with ownership opportunities in an employee‑owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college program.
• Three or more years of related practical experience is required.
• Experience with, and the ability to size HVAC equipment, duct and ancillary equipment, hydronic and utility piping systems.
• Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD; REVIT preferred, as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Experience working on Automotive, Manufacturing, and Commercial projects is a plus.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods and techniques on work of small projects or on portions of larger projects including HVAC and piping.
• Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and assistance in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.
• Exercises limited judgment in making adaptations or modifications to design concepts.
• Reviews work with supervisor to ensure the application of sound engineering practices and professional judgment.
• May supervise, coordinate, and direct the work effort of designers on the same project with some responsibility for checking his/her portion of the completed drawings.
• May write portions of specifications and assist in preparing cost estimates.
• Performs design work in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Job may require use of AI or similar digital technology to perform the job function.
