Job summary

ChildServe is seeking a dedicated Custodian for a full-time role at our Johnston location. You will maintain a clean, safe environment for children, families, and staff, performing routine custodial tasks and responding to requests and emergencies.

The position requires the ability to operate cleaning equipment, lift up to 50 lbs, and communicate effectively in English; experience in a school or healthcare setting is preferred. Schedule is negotiable and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent preferred.
• One year custodial experience preferred; school setting preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver in clinic areas.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities; respond to service requests and emergencies.
• Operate power equipment like carpet extractors, pressure washer, and hand/power tools per safety requirements.
• Clean and disinfect areas; vacuum, carpet clean, wash windows, remove trash.
• Order and stock supplies; maintain inventory and submit requests.
• Assist with set up/teardown of furniture/equipment as needed.
• Perform maintenance/repairs to fixtures; troubleshoot minor plumbing/electrical issues; replace bulbs.
