Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking a full-time custodial worker for the Facilities Management Department in Marietta, GA. The starting pay does not exceed $17.34 per hour and includes a requirement to pass an extensive background check and GCIC certification.

Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining county buildings, offices, restrooms and public spaces, operating a range of cleaning equipment, and supporting inventory and security tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; supplemented by one year of work experience.
• Ability to perform heavy physical work including lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Must pass extensive background check and GCIC certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides custodial duties to county buildings, facilities and parks: vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and/or shampoos carpet and floor surfaces located in hallways, stairs, offices, restrooms, kitchens, public rooms, elevators, storage rooms, and other areas.
• Cleans, dusts, polishes furniture and equipment; disinfects bathrooms; maintains trash and recycling containers.
• Maintains building security: turns off lights, unlocks/locks doors, disarms alarms; communicates with supervisor and public as needed.
• Operates cleaning equipment and associated tools; monitors safety and usage of supplies.
• Prepares forms, reports and timesheets; assists in inventory management and stocking supplies; escorts contractors when required.
