Job summary

The City of Gastonia seeks a custodial worker to perform routine, semi-skilled cleaning and maintenance for City buildings and grounds. You will work under supervision to keep facilities clean and safe.

Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, restrooms and office cleaning, trash removal, window washing, and basic bulb changes. Requires basic cleaning knowledge and the ability to follow directions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, waxes and buffers floors; cleans bathrooms, offices, and other facilities; empties trash cans (80%).
• Picks up litter in parking lots and washes windows (10%).
• Performs simple light bulb changes, etc.; performs related tasks as required (10%).
