Job summary

Oakland Community College seeks a capable custodian to maintain facilities in a safe, clean condition through routine cleaning, moving furniture, and minor repairs. The role supports a multi-cultural campus community and requires readiness to work beyond standard hours as needed.

Responsibilities include cleaning, waste removal, equipment upkeep, and assisting with simple maintenance tasks. A Michigan driver’s license is required; pesticide licensing is preferred to ensure compliance with safety

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent; college credits preferred.
• Minimum of one year custodial experience; grounds keeping and working with multicultural students and staff preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a current and valid Michigan driver's license; state of Michigan pesticide applicator license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintain walls, ceilings, windows, floors, bathrooms, furniture, and fixtures.
• Maintains supplies, equipment, and storage areas.
• Collects and removes waste and trash from assigned areas.
• Assembles and performs minor repairs and adjustments to fixtures, furnishings and furniture; reports equipment requiring outside service to supervisor.
• Loads, unloads, and moves furniture and fixtures, including disassembling and assembling, as required.
• May direct student employees assigned to area consistent with the terms and conditions of the Master Labor Agreement.
• Reviews communications in Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, as needed.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.
• Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
