Job summary

Oakland Human Resources Consortium is seeking a Custodian/Maintenance worker for Milford High School. The role supports cleaning, basic repairs, grounds care, and safety compliance in a school environment.

You will work under the working foreman and principal, following established procedures and safety standards. The position requires physical stamina, the ability to lift, climb, and operate custodial equipment, with on-site duties and possible after-hours calls.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal directions from school leadership and supervisors.
• Ability to organize work, manage time, and work independently.
• Knowledge of maintenance and safety needs of a building and grounds.
• Experience with plumbing and heating repairs and basic building equipment.
• Experience in commercial custodial cleaning operations.
• Good written and verbal communication, record-keeping and leadership skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Improve skills for routine custodial duties and develop position knowledge.
• Direct reporting to working foreman or principal when school is in session.
• Follow approved custodial procedures and schedules.
• Address minor maintenance problems in the building.
• Care for grounds, mowing, snow/ice removal, and plant maintenance.
• Maintain neat uniform and professional appearance; project a positive image.
• Maintain secure building and grounds, open/close as directed, support after-hours use.
• Assist principal or foreman with custodial tasks as needed.
• Ensure sanitary conditions and safe operation of equipment.
