Job summary

San Mateo County Community College District is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning and general maintenance across campus facilities. Under supervision, you will handle floor care, restrooms, and common areas, with opportunities to direct student workers on site.

Responsibilities include moving equipment, assisting in emergency readiness, and reporting hazards to supervisory staff. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required; experience in custodial work is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Experience in custodial work and use of cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and teamwork.
• Written and oral communication skills, especially with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Exchanges information with management about job assignments and timelines.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance tasks on floors, restrooms, offices and common areas.
• Moves furniture and equipment for special setups per specifications.
• Operates a motor vehicle as needed for tasks and transports.
• Reports safety hazards and participates in emergency procedures.
