Job summary

George Washington's Mount Vernon is seeking a responsible custodian to maintain and protect our facilities across multiple buildings. The role includes cleaning offices, kitchens, restrooms, and public areas, with a rotating schedule including weekends, holidays, and special events.

Compensation starts at $16.00–$17.00 per hour. The position requires physical ability, reliability, and the capacity to work in indoor and outdoor environments around historic spaces.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of custodial experience.
• Must possess good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Must lift up to 30lbs, push 20lbs, bend, stretch, twist, crouch or reach.

Responsibilities

• Cleans offices, kitchens, common areas, and restrooms.
• Maintains supply levels and inventories at all locations.
• Maintains cleaning equipment and uses chemicals safely.
• Surveys facilities for routine and emergency maintenance; submits service orders.
• Assists with setup for special events and moves boxes/furniture.
