Job summary

The Town of Abingdon, Virginia is seeking a full-time Custodian to maintain the cleanliness of the facility and surrounding grounds, and assist with set-ups for activities. This rotating role requires evenings and weekends and the ability to work without supervision.

Responsibilities include cleaning, stocking supplies, maintaining records, and ensuring doors are locked with alarms in place. Requires high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of custodial experience.
• Knowledge of custodial procedures and ability to complete tasks.
• Knowledge and ability to operate janitorial equipment (buffers, carpet cleaners).
• Knowledge and ability to use hand tools and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic custodial duties (sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming).
• Clean restrooms, kitchens and remove litter.
• Set up and tear down for meetings and activities.
• Carry equipment and reach up to 50 pounds and climb stairs.
• Verify task completion and communicate needs to supervisor.
