Job summary

Milan Institute is seeking a reliable Custodian/Janitor to keep facilities clean and welcoming for clients and staff. Responsibilities include cleaning floors, restrooms, windows, and common areas; stocking supplies; and aiding in event setup.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in janitorial or custodial services is an asset.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Physical stamina for repetitive tasks; bending, lifting, standing for extended periods.
• Good time management to prioritize tasks and complete them promptly.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of health and safety practices in cleaning environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties: sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; stock supplies.
• Empty and dispose of trash and recycling following procedures.
• Clean windows, mirrors and glass to maintain a polished look.
• Maintain and replenish cleaning supplies; report low stock or issues.
• Assist in setting up meeting rooms and event spaces.
• Ensure common areas remain clean and presentable.
• Monitor and report maintenance or repair needs to supervisors.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a safe environment.
• Follow cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure thorough cleaning.
