Job summary

Milan Institute currently seeks a reliable Custodian/Janitor to join our team. You will perform cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain a clean, inviting environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities include sanitizing restrooms, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash disposal, and setting up rooms for events. Prior janitorial experience is a plus; high school diploma preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in janitorial or custodial services is an asset.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Janitor to join our team. Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures, ensuring they are well-stocked with necessary supplies.
• Empty and dispose of trash and recycling bins, following proper waste management procedures.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to maintain a polished appearance.
• Maintain and replenish cleaning supplies, notifying the supervisor of any low stock or equipment issues.
• Assist in setting up meeting rooms and event spaces as needed.
• Ensure common areas, such as hallways and reception areas, are always clean and presentable.
• Monitor and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
• Follow cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure all areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Proven experience in janitorial or custodial services is an asset.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions effectively.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks and complete them in a timely manner.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
• Understanding of health and safety practices in a cleaning environment.
