Job summary

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Public Works Team is hiring a Custodian to maintain clean facilities on a Monday–Friday 5:00pm–1:30am schedule. You will support event setups, weddings, funerals, and other gatherings, contributing to a welcoming, safe environment for customers and staff.

Starting pay is $18 an hour with additional compensation based on shift and experience. You must read and speak English, hold a valid Class D driver’s license, and be able to lift up to 60 lbs while

Qualifications

• No minimum education requirements.
• Ability to read and speak English clearly.
• Valid Class D driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Proficiency in maintaining safety while handling potential fumes, chemicals, odors, and/or noise.
• Ability to move in a variety of motions including bending, squatting, crawling, kneeling, twisting, pulling, and/ or pushing.
• Capacity to lift up to 60 lbs and be on feet 100% of time.

Responsibilities

• Maintain impeccable cleanliness in all areas, surfaces, floors, restrooms, and common areas per protocols and schedules.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and company policies; follow OSHA guidelines; know MDSD information.
• Communicate effectively with customers, children, and employees, maintaining high quality customer service and confidentiality.
• Report maintenance issues or cleaning equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Assist other team members when needed.
• Perform additional duties including event turnover for weddings and funerals; available on weekends and for last‑minute events.

Job Overview

Cleans and maintains facilities ensuring that written cleaning service standards are met for set work schedule. Assists in, room setups and other duties as assigned. Occasional special events, weddings, funerals, Wacipi, etc.

• Maintain impeccable cleanliness in all areas, including surfaces, floors, restrooms, and common areas in accordance with established protocols and schedules.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and company policies. Follow OSHA policies and procedures. Know and understand MDSD information. Ensure all chemicals and equipment are kept out of reach of children, customer, team members, etc.
• Communicate effectively with customers, children, and employees, keeping high quality customer service and confidentiality as the primary consideration.
• Report any maintenance issues or cleaning equipment malfunctions to the Supervisor.
• Assist other team members when needed.
• Performs additional duties as needed, including providing cleaning services and turnover for special events such as weddings, funerals, etc. Must be available to work weekends and events that may arise with little notice.
