Job summary

The City of Chicopee's Facilities Department is hiring a Facilities Custodian responsible for routine custodial duties during an assigned shift, maintaining the municipal building and adjacent grounds in a clean, safe, and secure condition.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Mass. Class D license, and building maintenance experience. Background checks are required, with security awareness training within six months of hire and biannually thereafter.

Qualifications

• Successfully complete and pass a Board of Probations Background Check.
• Successfully complete and pass a Fingerprinted Based Background Check.
• Successful completion of Basic Security Awareness Training within six (6) months of hire and biannually thereafter.
• Massachusetts Class D Driver's License.
• High School Diploma/G.E.D. or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Required Experience in Building Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Empty Trash.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
• Wash, strip, and wax floors.
• Clean carpets as needed.
• Mow the lawn, string trim, rake, and use leaf blowers.
• Clean areas outside the building.
• Vacuum, clean, and dust inside the building as needed.
• Enter and respond to work orders as needed or assigned.
• Perform small carpentry, electrical, and plumbing with assistance.
• Snow removal, including plowing, shoveling, snow blower use and ice melt application.
• Filling in at different locations as needed or assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Secure buildings.
