Job summary

Town of Mashpee Department of Public Works is hiring for a full-time Custodian (1st shift) at Quashnet Elementary School. The position runs 40 hours per week, 7:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with adjusted hours during school vacations.

Responsibilities

• Care and maintenance of public buildings and related equipment to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Operate custodial/maintenance equipment; clean, disinfect and restock washrooms; dispose of trash and recycling; maintain equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Assist with snow and ice operations as essential personnel and respond to emergencies as needed.

Job description

The Town of Mashpee Department of Public Works welcomes applications for a full time Custodian, 1st shift for the Quashnet Elementary School.

$25.85/hr - $26.87/hr commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position works 40 hours/week from 7:30am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, except during school vacations, including summer vacation. During vacations the position works 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent with demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities; at least one year of experience in custodial work is required, or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities:

Performs semi-skilled manual work involving responsibility for the care and maintenance of a public building or buildings and related equipment to ensure that facilities are safe, sanitary and welcoming for both the public and Town employees. Operates custodial/maintenance equipment. Cleans, disinfects and restocks washrooms, collects and disposes of trash and recycling, maintains equipment and performs minor repairs.

Required. Assists With Snow And Ice Operations. Considered Essential personnel for emergency operations; is subject to call to respond to emergencies after normal working hours.

Qualifications:

Must possess a valid MA driver's license (Class D). Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
