Job Summary

Assists Facilities Technicians, Custodians, and the Facilities Manager with repair and maintenance of the facility, grounds, and equipment of the Humane Society of The Pikes Peak Region and assigned departments. Supports the setup and breakdown of fundraising events and other functions. Assists with custodial duties as needed. Maintains open communication with the Facilities Manager and performs work safely.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance / Facilities

• Clean up of work areas and job sites.
• Move equipment and supplies as directed.
• Construct and dismantle items as directed.
• Maintain the interior and exterior of HSPPR facilities, including repairs, painting, window washing, waste removal, and parking lot upkeep.
• Maintain grounds, landscaping, sprinkler systems, trash, weeding, edging, trimming, and parking lots.
• Follow established policies, procedures, and safety practices.
• Assist with custodial cleaning and maintenance of the Colorado Springs campus, including public and staff areas, restrooms, and external spaces.
• Assist with snow removal during winter, including shoveling, plowing, and snow blowing.

Customer Service

• Provide quality service to both pet and human clients.
• Respond promptly to requests for assistance and repairs.
• Support staff in immediate problem-solving situations and promote good public relations.
• Represent HSPPR professionally and courteously at all times.
• Recognize contributions of clients, volunteers, and employees.

Other

• Commit to the mission, values, and goals of HSPPR.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

• Regularly sit at a computer and in a shared office environment.
• Lift and move 60+ pounds regularly; occasionally lift up to 40+ pounds.
• Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
• Stand and walk frequently; may be on feet for extended periods.
• Work around animals and allergens with limited alternatives.
• Use hands and arms to grip, pull, and push with equipment and safety gear.
• Have vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Be exposed to noise, weather, cleaning chemicals, and potential hazards.

Schedule Requirements

Sunday - Thursday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, with occasional weekend and holiday work, early mornings, or late nights as needed.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, interpret, and perform basic math.
• Follow directions, problem-solve, and exercise good judgment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with general labor tasks.
• Valid Colorado Driver's License and insurable driving record.
