Job summary

Friends of the Children – SF Bay Area is seeking a Facilities & Custodial Associate to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming space for youth and staff. You will handle cleaning, basic repairs, and space preparation to support daily programs and events.

The role emphasizes a reliable, detail-oriented individual who can work independently, with a friendly demeanor and a commitment to creating inclusive spaces for families and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Reliability and punctuality with a consistent schedule.
• Strong attention to detail in keeping spaces clean and cared for.
• Ability to work independently and identify what needs doing.
• Resourceful problem-solving for minor equipment issues.
• Comfort with basic hand tools and furniture assembly.
• Experience in custodial, facilities, or building operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, youth spaces, offices, and common areas.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and wipe high-touch surfaces; manage supplies and restrooms.
• Perform routine and scheduled deep-cleaning tasks; respond to spills.
• Maintain entrances, exterior areas, garden, and parking lot in welcoming condition.
• Handle basic repairs and coordinate with vendors as needed.
• Track inventory, receive deliveries, and organize storage areas.
• Assist vendors and document work; communicate issues to Operations.
