Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; five years of construction trade experience preferred.
• Experience in facilities maintenance across multiple trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and welding.
• Ability to read maps, plans, blueprints and electrical schematics; knowledge of safety practices and codes.

Responsibilities

Facilities Construction Specialist (Facilities Maintenance)

Full Time Thousand Palms, CA, US

Salary Range: $31.18 To $34.10 Hourly

SunLine is seeking a skilled and versatile Facilities Construction Specialist (Facilities Maintenance) to support the maintenance, repair, and improvement of facilities across multiple locations. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys variety in their work and has experience performing repairs and maintenance across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, welding, and general facilities upkeep.

The successful candidate is a "jack-of-all-trades" who can independently diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, complete repairs, assist with remodeling projects, and ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This position works on a wide range of assignments rather than specializing in a single trade.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs preventive Maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and related components: Fills out reports on preventive maintenance inspections and make recommendations for preventive maintenance
• Repairs and maintains a variety of facilities systems, equipment, components and structures. Constructs and maintains indoor/outdoor facilities, doors & hardware, compressors, pumps, cooling equipment, generators, operable gates, Etc…
• Build, fabricated or repairs structures, equipment, and/or miscellaneous articles from verbal instructions, blueprints and/or working drawings.
• Welds, solders, grinds materials for various fabrication methods.
• Ability to climb a ladder and work from scaffolding or equipment.
• Ability to work extended hours outdoor in varying weather conditions.
• Performs electronic record keeping related to preventive maintenance inspections and repairs in order to be efficient and effective in performance of facility work request system. Tracks and closes assigned work orders.
• Ensures adherence to Agency safety policies and procedures; monitors to ensure safe work practices and being followed. Knows and understands safety procedures associated with construction, electrical and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain appropriate records and reports electronically.

OTHER DUTIES

• Provide back up support to other departments and staff as required.
• Maintain SunLine tools and keeps records of tools in stock and maintenance of tools.
• Assist facility tech’s as requested to complete work orders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the construction industry and maintenance industry.
• Standard practices, methods and techniques used in industrial engineering, building systems engineering, and commercial building construction and repair.
• Building and environmental codes, regulations and guidelines pertaining to the work.
• Read and interpret maps, plans, blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Safe operation and maintenance of a wide variety or equipment, hand, shop and power tools used in the work.

Ability to:

• Plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate building, facilities and operating equipment maintenance and repair operations.
• Practices, methods and techniques for preventive maintenance programs, applicable to assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to use an array of tools: mig welder, plasma cutter, cutting torch, hand grinder, circular saw, drills, table saw, drill press, hand tools, paint sprayers, light equipment, etc.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, computer use to maintain logs. Respond to work request and E-mails: monitor and manage work orders in the facility maintenance help desk.
• Prepare clear, concise and complete records and reports of work completed and other written materials.
• Exercise sound independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Agency managers, employees, suppliers, union representatives, and other encountered in the course of work.

Education:A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlines as above. High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent and at least five years of Construction trade experience, facilities maintenance and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience highly desirable

Licensure:A valid California Class C driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency’s vehicle insurance policy.

Training:Combination of training and experience in a Construction trade and facility maintenance.
