Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a Construction Manager to lead a federal renovation project. You will oversee scheduling, field staff, and coordinating with government project managers to ensure compliance with plans and budgets.

Responsibilities include maintaining client relations, conducting site meetings, reviewing contractor work, managing change orders, and reporting progress. Travel to project sites is required. OSHA 10-hour certification is preferred among qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Ten years of construction management experience on projects.
  • Experience with federal courthouse renovations.
  • Knowledge of federal project processes: cost, change orders, RFIs.
  • Experience with Government PMs/CORs and documentation.

Position summary:

JMT is seeking a Construction Manager to be responsible for managing a renovation on a federal project.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients, building occupants, architects/engineers, and contractors
  • Manage and coordinate inspection staff
  • Manage project schedule from inception to close out
  • Run project job-site meetings
  • Review contractor work in place to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Review and approve contractor monthly requisitions and invoices
  • Efficient change order management and cost control
  • Report on project issues and provide status updates
  • Perform other duties as may be required
Required Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective leadership skills for managing and mentoring field staff
  • Ability to take charge and effectively manage contractors to meet project schedule
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations with 10HR OSHA Safety card
  • The ability to work well with others, and willingness to learn in a team environment
  • Ability to evaluate contractor provided construction CPM schedules, including logic and sequencing
Required Experience
  • Minimum of ten years of construction experience serving as a Construction Manager, Construction Management Representative, Owner’s Representative or Construction Superintendent
  • Experience with renovation projects in federal courthouses involving high end finishes and building system repair and restoration that involved the active management, oversight and/or inspection of multiple construction trades and close coordination with the Government/Owner on construction issues
  • Knowledge and experience working with Federal Government Project Managers/CORs on project costs and budgets, processing change requests, requests for information, submittals, and field observation reports
  • Experience using SharePoint or related Government construction management software (ePM, ProjNet, etc.) to communicate construction progress and process documentation.
  • Experience using MS Excel or related cost estimating software to develop Independent Cost Estimates for change order negotiations
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, contractor shop drawings and/or vendor specifications and plans, or similar, to determine constructability and practicality of proposed work and adherence to established standards and requirements
Preferred Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
  • Engineering in Training (EIT), Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager, or Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour construction safety training
  • Experience on Federal Courthouse Renovation projects
  • Familiarity with GSA policies and procedures
Working Conditions

Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Office to field time is approximately 25% to 75% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required. Travel required.
