Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking an Assistant Supervisor to oversee front-line staff and cleaning operations at designated facilities. The role works with Managers to maintain productivity, safety, and quality while ensuring timely cleaning and high customer service standards.

The position requires supervisory and janitorial experience, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate staffing with management. Overnight shifts and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• One year of supervisory experience.
• One year of janitorial experience.
• Training in the cleaning industry or building management field is preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with team members verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and to accomplish objectives.
• Ability to handle and resolve problems.
• May be required to work overnight shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee an assigned area or building.
• Directly supervise front-line employees.
• Ensure productivity and customer service standards are met and safety/quality/compliance requirements are followed.
• Direct and clean designated areas within deadlines.
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
• Manage employee lunches and breaks.
• Maintain staffing through communication with Managers.
• Coach, counsel and discipline staff in coordination with Managers.
• Set a positive, professional example for the workforce.
• Conduct safety and quality audits.
• Assign tasks to front-line team members.
• Inspect completed work for conformance to standards.
• Train new workers and ongoing training of existing staff.
