Job summary

City of Memphis is seeking a Cleaning Worker to perform routine cleaning of buildings, facilities and equipment under direct supervision. Duties include sweeping, mopping, trash collection, and basic maintenance tasks.

Must be able to operate vacuum cleaners, buffers and carpet shampooers; assist with snow removal and trash collection. Read and follow written instructions; lift up to 50 lbs; indoor work with some outdoor exposure.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read, write and understand verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of proper use of cleaning materials and floor finishes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning of buildings, facilities and equipment.
• Moves furniture and equipment as needed.
• Operates motor driven cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers and carpet shampooers.
• Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks and collects trash/litter around facilities.
• Notifies supervisor of repairs, maintenance and large debris work needed.
