Job summary

E2 Optics is seeking a Facilities Cleaner to join our onsite team in Columbus, OH. This position supports a clean, safe, and well-maintained workplace in a fast-moving technology environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and custodial experience. You will operate cleaning equipment safely and follow established procedures to uphold our hygiene standards and fit within an award-winning, woman-owned organization.

Qualifications

  • Custodial/janitorial experience preferred.
  • Experience with cleaning equipment/products preferred.
  • Experience in office/industrial environments preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas (sweeping, mopping, dusting, waste disposal).
  • Ensure surfaces, fixtures, and equipment are cleaned to standards.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely per health guidelines.
  • Support a clean and safe environment for employees, visitors, and clients.

What You'll Do

Safety is E2 Optics’ number one Core Value. All employees are expected to follow safe work practices, as well as adhere to company and client worksite safety policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in assigned areas by performing tasks such as:
    • Sweeping
    • Mopping
    • Dusting
    • Waste disposal.
  • Ensures that all surfaces, fixtures, and equipment are cleaned according to E2 Optics established standards and schedules.
  • May handle the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, following health and safety guidelines.
  • Supports a clean and safe environment for employees, visitors, and clients.
What We Are Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
  • Experience using cleaning equipment and products preferred.
  • Experience working in office, industrial, warehouse, or commercial environments preferred.
  • Experience safely handling cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and safe handling of cleaning products.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete work within established schedules.
  • Ability to safely operate basic cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and practices.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a professional attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, visitors, and customers.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role requires sitting, use of hands and arms, verbal communication, and occasional physical movement such as stooping or kneeling. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. Must be able to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies) if required to do so. The employee may also be required to work in tight and confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
